Family office counsel at large

A residence that moves.

A structure that moves with it.

Capital that must cross three banking systems and arrive as itself.

An estate that has to hold in more than one legal order.

And, most weeks, a contract someone needs signed by Friday.

Twenty years, in this order. A Moscow state court, from the inside. Then entertainment — a film group, and ten years running the legal department of Cirque du Soleil in Russia: intellectual property, and everything else that keeps a touring show on the road.

The pandemic closed the tents. What came after was private: family capital, and a practice that stopped being domestic. Different houses run their affairs differently — which is, mostly, what there is to learn. The work follows the people it serves, and happens wherever it needs to happen — no permanent establishment, in either sense.

More than ten jurisdictions at last count. The number is not stable, and that is rather the point.
